Reflux Disease Treatment
The LINX® System is a medical device that augments the weak Lower Oesophageal Sphincter (LOS), restoring the body’s natural barrier to reflux.
It is recommended for those diagnosed with chronic GORD, who are on acid suppression medication yet still experiencing reflux symptoms.
- The small flexible band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores is placed around the esophagus just above the stomach.
- The magnetic attraction between the beads helps the lower oesophageal sphincter resist opening to gastric pressures, preventing reflux from the stomach into the oesophagus.
- Food and liquid can be swallowed as normal, as the magnetic attraction is temporarily broken allowing food and drink to pass into the stomach.
- Immediately after swallowing, magnetic attraction closes the lower oesophageal sphincter to prevent reflux from the stomach back into the oesophagus.
