Consultant Bariatric Surgeon

Mr Marcus Reddy is an industry-leading Consultant Bariatric Surgeon.

His NHS and private practice spans a range of laparoscopic and open general surgery and he operates across all types of bariatric surgery including:

  • laparoscopic gastric banding
  • sleeve gastrectomy
  • roux en y gastric bypass
  • revision surgery
  • super-obesity

Qualifications and Training

Mr Reddy attained a BSc(Pharm) in 1989 and received his MBBS from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1992. He became a FRCS(Eng) in 1997 and FRCS(Gen) in 2004. He trained in London and Australia where he gained an in-depth knowledge of GI surgery, liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery and laparoscopic surgery.

Experience

Mr Reddy is fully accredited on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register for general surgery with a nominated special interest in upper gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery.

He is also a member of the committee overseeing the National Bariatric Surgery Database, a senior lecturer in surgery at St George’s, University of London and an active member at many prestigious associations.

He is the lead upper GI surgeon at St George’s Hospital NHS Trust, London and developed the South Thames Bariatric Service which is the preferred provider for NHS bariatric surgery in the region.

Mr Reddy is also a member of the committee overseeing the National Bariatric Surgery Database, a Senior Lecturer in surgery at St George’s and an active member of many prestigious associations, including the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Association of Upper GI Surgeons and British Obesity, and the Metabolic Surgery Society.

He has lectured nationally and internationally on bariatric surgery.

Mr Reddy trained in London and Australia where he gained experience in upper GI surgery, liver transplant, hepatobiliary surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
